Shoaib Malik claims another record achievement in T20 cricket

PALLEKELE: Former Pakistan captain Shoaib Malik accomplished an incredible feat on Monday when he became the only second batter to complete 12000 runs in T20 cricket.

The all-rounder reached the milestone during the Lanka Premier League match between Jaffna Kings and Colombo Stars. He smashed a blistering 35 from 24 balls to help the Kings go on top over their opponents and surpassed the landmark during the process.

Previously, only West Indian batter Chris Gayle, also called Universe Boss for his aggressive batting style, had this distinction of scoring 12000 T20 runs. However, after playing 485 T20 games, Malik achieved the milestone too.

During his illustrious career, the veteran all-rounder has represented Pakistan in 124 T20 internationals, the most by any Pakistani player. He was part of Pakistan’s T20 World Cup-winning team in 2009 and played a crucial role along with Man of the Match Shahid Afridi in the final against Sri Lanka.

The 40-year-old has also appeared in 35 Tests and 287 ODIs for Pakistan.
