WATCH: Shan Masood engages in heated exchange with journalist questioning his future

MULTAN: Pakistan red-ball captain Shan Masood engaged in a heated exchange with a journalist during the press conference after his team’s 120-run defeat in the second Test against West Indies here on Monday.

After Pakistan’s loss, a journalist questioned Shan Masood’s captaincy and his future in the role.

Shan, visibly frustrated by the question and its tone, initially opted to move on, saying, “Next question.” However, the journalist interrupted, asking for a response, which prompted a heated reply.

“You have your opinion and I respect that but there is a lot of disrespect in your question. You can’t show disrespect to players, me and the others,” Shan Masood stated.

“Your question was very insulting. You tried to undermine someone with your question.

“If you want to talk about facts, feel free to, but your information is completely wrong. You can express your opinion but do some research first.

Shan Masood stated that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is the decision-making body and every player will accept whatever their decision is.

He further stressed that as a player, their job is to give their best for the team and they deserve respect for their efforts.

“Making decisions is PCB’s job, and all decisions, including mine, are accepted by everyone,” he added.

“We play for Pakistan, and everything we do is to bring results but no one will tolerate such disrespect. You have to understand that.

“You have to understand and appreciate that we are trying to do something different and you must study that. Anyone can google something but we are trying to do something and we have won three out of the last four Tests at home.”
