Shahid Afridi advises PCB on Shaheen’s injury

KARACHI: Former Pakistan captain and star all-rounder Shahid Afridi advised the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to handle ace pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi’s knee injury very carefully.

Afridi, during a local news channel’s program, commented on left-arm pacer Shaheen’s injury and shared a piece of advice for both the latter and the PCB.

“Shaheen is now resting because he once again had his knee injured in the same place,” said Afridi.

“I think Shaheen should rest for at least 2-3 months for recovery and be careful while fielding,” he added.

Shahid Afridi also advised Shaheen to be careful with his fielding and not to dive into a position that would require him to go to rehab again.

“He has to play very carefully now and PCB will also have to make sure,” Afridi said.

The former Pakistan captain also responded to the speculations regarding Shaheen playing the recently-concluded ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 in spite of the injury and asserted that the latter would not have been able to bowl even two overs in the final.

Meanwhile, PCB Medical Officer Dr Najeebullah Soomro and Australian knee specialist Dr Peter D’Alessandro cleared Shaheen of any serious injury and advised the pacer for rehabilitation of 2-3 weeks.
