‘Shaheen will be fully fit before the World Cup,’ says Ramiz Raja

LAHORE: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ramiz Raja opened up regarding the fitness of Pakistan’s ace pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi and asserted that the latter will be fully fit before the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022.

Ramiz, in an interview with a local media, gave a much-anticipated update on Shaheen’s fitness status and the possibility of him representing the men in green in T20 World Cup in Australia.

“I spoke to Shaheen Afridi two days ago. He is making great progress and the doctors sent me his videos.”

“He is at 90 % now and they think that he will be battle-ready [for the world cup],” Ramiz added.

Ramiz then further revealed that the star pacer also eyes to play a few practice matches before the highly-anticipated clash against arch-rivals India.

“Knee injuries are technical and sensitive, so our opinion was until that he isn’t 110 %, so we won’t risk him. But when I spoke to him, he said he is already at 110%,” Ramiz shared.

“He told me that he will go (to Australia) to play the practice matches and be ready for India,” he concluded.

It is pertinent to mention here that Shaheen suffered from Posterior Cruciate Ligament (PCL) injury during the first Test against Sri Lanka in July and was advised four to six weeks of rest.
