KARACHI: Shahab Khan defeated Muhammad Ali 6-1, 3-6, 10-7 to clinch the National Tennis Championship, which concluded at Modern Club, here on Saturday.
The week-long event, comprising different categories crowned various winners with Shahab leading the way and adding a major triumph to his account as he wins the Men’s Singles event of the National Tennis Championship.
Shahab, held his nerves calm when his opponent Ali marking an important comeback by claiming the second set as he quickly bounced back in the third set to seal the victory.
Lahore’s Asad Zaman, Zohaib Afzal, and Amir Mazar won the double crown, whereas Hyderabad’s young talent Rashid Ali won the Under-10 title.
Karachi’s Natalia Zaman, on the other hand, carried on her wonderful form as she comfortably clinched the title by winning the final against Inaya Saeed without dropping a single set.
In the Wheelchair category, Fida Hussain, who represented Pakistan internationally thumped Muhammad Ayub Khan 6-2 to add another feather to his cap.
The Under-14 girls singles final between Inaya and Dalia Shazim, will be contested on Monday.
