DUBAI: Pakistan ace pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi and T20I vice-captain Shadab Khan included among nine players, shortlisted by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for the Player of the Tournament award.
According to the details, the ICC shortlisted nine exceptional performers from Pakistan, India, England, Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe.
Shadab and Shaheen are the joint-highest wicket-taker for Pakistan (10) in the ongoing tournament. Both players won a player of the match award each in the mega event thus far.

“Shadab Khan has been one of Pakistan’s star performers in their run to the final of the tournament, starring with both bat and ball,” ICC stated in the press release.
“He has been an impactful performer, picking up vital wickets in the middle overs while also playing the role of power-hitter in the middle order brilliantly,” the statement added.
The cricket governing body further heaped praises on the Pakistan ace pacer Shaheen, who made an impressive comeback despite coming out of a knee injury.
“Shaheen Afridi has slowly but surely regained his groove in the tournament, being back to his best in the last couple of games,” ICC stated.
Besides Shaheen and Shadab, the ICC shortlisted Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav from India, Sam Curran, Alex Hales and Jos Buttler from England, Wanindu Hasarange de Silva from Sri Lanka and Sikandar Raza from Zimbabwe.
It is pertinent to mention that fans can decide the winner of the Player of the Tournament award by voting on the official website of the ICC.
