BRISTOL: Pakistan all-rounder Shadab Khan delivered an all-round masterclass in his T20 Blast return for Sussex on Thursday as he backed his four-for with a brisk 28-run knock against Gloucestershire.
Shadab Khan, who was ruled out of Sussex’s T20 Blast fixture against Kent, made his comeback to the side a memorable one as he produced a match-winning all-round masterclass.
After right-arm Sussex pacer, Aristides Karvelas dismantled Gloucestershire’s top order Shadab Khan added further to their misery by halting their recovery by dismissing opening batter Grant Roelofsen in the ninth over, who scored a counter-attacking 41.
In his next two overs, Shadab Khan then further hurt Gloucestershire batting march by removing Oliver Price (19) and compatriot Zafar Gohar (10) and forced the opposition to slip to 89/6 in the 13th over.
He then struck in the same over by getting rid of Tom Price and completed his four-wicket haul and returned with astounding figures of 4/27 in his quota of four overs.
Four wickets each by Shadab Khan and Aristides Karvelas propelled Sussex to book Gloucestershire for a modest 140-run total.
Set to chase 141, Sussex comfortably completed the pursuit in the 14th over for the loss of just three wickets including a blistering cameo of 28 runs by Shadab.
He came out to bat at number five when Sussex were 105/3 in the 11th over, needing another 36 runs and played a blistering 28-run knock from just 24 deliveries.
His blistering knock featured two boundaries and as many sixes.
Earlier, a quickfire half-century by opening batter Harrison Ward laid a solid foundation for Sussex to claim a resounding seven-wicket victory.
He scored 51 off 27 deliveries, laced up with two boundaries and five sixes.
