Shadab Khan achieves unique landmark in T20s

Shadab Khan on Thursday added another feather to his cap as the all-rounder became the second-youngest player to play 250 T20 matches.

Shadab Khan, at 24 years & 247 days of age, has become the second-youngest player to play 250 matches.

He is currently representing Sussex in the ongoing T20 Blast and achieved the landmark amid the side’s fixture against Middlesex on Thursday.

Star Afghanistan all-rounder Rashid Khan tops the list of the youngest players to play 250 T20s.

Meanwhile, Shadab Khan has thus far piled up 2,408 runs at a healthy strike rate of 135.73. He also has eight half-centuries to his name in the 250 T20s.

Shadab Khan is equally impressive with the ball as the leg-break bowler took 280 wickets, including a five-wicket haul, with an astonishing average of 23.31 and an economy rate of 7.35.

Notably, Shadab Khan made his landmark match memorable courtesy of a blistering half-century against Middlesex.

The right-handed batter scored 59 runs off just 30 deliveries, laced up with four boundaries and five sixes.

His brilliance with the bat propelled Sussex to a commendable total of 181/8 in their quota of 20 overs. Shadab remained the top scorer for his side.

Shadab Khan was also impressive with the ball as the right-arm spinner bowled four overs and leaked away just 30 runs.

His all-round heroics bolstered Sussex to a narrow four-run victory over Middlesex.

It is worth mentioning here Shadab Khan is the only Pakistan men’s bowler to take 100 wickets in T20Is.

Shadab achieved the milestone in the last T20I of the three-match series against Afghanistan in March this year by dismissing Usman Ghani.

He is also Pakistan’s leading wicket-taker in the shortest format, followed by legendary all-rounder Shahid Afridi, who made 97 scalps amid his decorated career.

Shadab Khan took 87 innings to reach the milestone while Afridi played 98 T20Is.
