LAHORE: Senior goalkeepers of the Pakistan hockey team got visas to participate in Asian Champions Trophy. Goalkeepers Amjad Ali and Mazhar Abbas left for Dhaka today.
Goalkeeper, Mazhar, requested the nation to pray for the team’s success. He also thanked the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) and the Ministry of Sports Bangladesh for visa issuance.
“We request the nation to pray for our success,” he said.
“I especially want to thank the PHF and the Ministry of Sports Bangladesh for their diligent efforts in obtaining visas on an emergency basis,” he concluded.
Following the departure of the Pakistan team for the Champions Trophy, Coach Pakistan Hockey Team, Olympian Syed Sameer Hussain, is hopeful about his team’s performance.
“Players have potential, are committed to a good performance,” he said.
“The nation is requested to pray for Pakistan. Victory will help in the revival of hockey in the country,” he concluded.
Sameer also acknowledged the appointment of a foreign coach for the team and said that the team will be benefitted.
