Sarabia scores early to help Spain nose out Switzerland in Nations League

GENEVA: Spain registered their first victory in this year’s UEFA Nations League as Pablo Sarabia struck an early goal, steering his team to edge Switzerland 1-0, in a group A2 match here on Thursday.

Luis Enrique’s side dominated the game from the start when Sarabia took advantage of an error by the Swiss defense and struck from the close range to score the lone goal of the game in the 12th minute.

Switzerland suffered their third consecutive loss in this year’s Nations League as they already lost to Portugal and Czech Republic in the earlier games.

Spain, on the other hand, rose to the second spot in Group 2 of League A with five points as the team drew their first two games and triumphed the last night’s encounter.

Both the team will be playing their next games at home on Sunday. Switzerland will host Portugal whereas  Spain will clash with the Czechs in Malaga.
