Pakistan duo picked by Hobart Hurricanes for Global Super League

Pakistan’s Mohammad Nawaz and Sahibzada Farhan have secured deals with Hobart Hurricanes for the upcoming Global Super League (GSL), scheduled to be held in Guyana from July 10 to 18.

The duo joins an exciting international lineup in what has quickly become one of the more intriguing T20 leagues on the calendar.

The all-rounder ability of Mohammad Nawaz and the attacking flair of Sahibzada Farhan at the top-order make them valuable additions for the Australian outfit.

Meanwhile, fellow Pakistanis Saud Shakeel and Khawaja Nafay have also been cleared for participation. Saud will don the colours of Guyana Amazon Warriors, the 2023 CPL champions, while Nafay awaits the announcement of his team.

According to official updates, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has issued No Objection Certificates (NOCs) to Nawaz and Nafay. Formal clearances for Saud and Farhan are pending but are expected soon.

The Global Super League, also referred to as the Guyana Global Super League, is a Cricket West Indies (CWI) initiative chaired by the legendary Clive Lloyd.

Its inaugural edition ran from November 26 to December 7, 2024, and featured five teams: Guyana Amazon Warriors, Hampshire (England), Lahore Qalandars (Pakistan), Rangpur Riders (Bangladesh), and Victoria (Australia).

Rangpur Riders clinched the maiden title, defeating Victoria by 56 runs in the final at Providence Stadium.
