India’s ODI and Test captain Rohit Sharma has cemented himself as a potential threat to Shahid Afridi’s record of most sixes in One-Day Internationals (ODIs).
Rohit stands third in the list with 330 sixes to his name in 264 matches and has moved just one shy of West Indies legend Chris Gayle, who holds the second spot with 331 sixes in 301 matches.
As Gayle’s tally of sixes seems right in Rohit’s reach, the Indian skipper is also favourite to go on to break Afridi’s record of hitting the most ODI sixes.
Legendary Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi tops the list with 351 sixes in 398 matches.

As per the reports, Rohit Sharma, who retired from T20Is after leading India to the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 triumph, is likely to lead his side in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, meaning he has an ample opportunity to break Shahid Afridi’s record.
Remember, Rohit Sharma also holds the record of hitting the most number of sixes in international cricket.
He achieved the landmark during India’s eight-wicket victory over Afghanistan in the ICC Men’s World Cup 2023 and has moved way beyond Gayle’s tally since then.
Rohit Sharma now has 619 sixes to his name in 482 matches across formats.
Chris Gayle had hit 553 sixes throughout his decorated career, which spanned over 22 years. The West Indian legend took 551 innings to set the world record.
