Rizwan shines on his Vitality Blast debut, breaks Umar Akmal’s record

HOVE: Pakistan’s wicket-keeper Mohammad Rizwan, who is representing Sussex in the recently commenced Vitality Blast, headlined on his debut as he scored an unbeaten 81 runs against Glamorgan, here on Thursday.

In his side’s fixture against the Glamorgan, Rizwan displayed his brilliance with the bat; scoring an astounding 81 runs off just 60 balls with the help of six boundaries and three sixes.

Rizwan’s 81 in his debut has shattered the record of his counterpart Umar, who scored 76 runs on his Vitality Blast debut in 2015.

Following Rizwan’s brilliance with the bat, Sussex managed to post a commendable total of 150/6 in the allotted 20 overs as the rest of the batters had a forgetful evening with the bat. Glamorgan, in the end, comfortably sealed the victory as they chased down the target with seven balls and as many wickets to spare.
