Rishabh Pant creates history, becomes only second wicket-keeper to achieve this feat

LEEDS: India wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant has etched his name into the record books with consecutive centuries in the opening Test against England.

With his second consecutive ton, Pant levelled the record with former Zimbabwe wicketkeeper Andy Flower for scoring twin centuries in a Test match.

In addition to this, he became the first and only Indian wicketkeeper to achieve the historic milestone.

Previously, Andy Flower was the only wicketkeeper who had scored twin centuries in a Test. He scored 142 and an unbeaten 199* against South Africa in Harare in 2001.

Rishabh Pant scored a blazing knock of 118 runs off 140 deliveries, peppered with 15 fours and three maximums. In the first innings, the southpaw also scored a sublime 134-run knock off 138 balls laced with half a dozen sixes.

With his seventh hundred, he surpassed former Indian captain MS Dhoni’s century tally. Dhoni had scored seven hundreds in 90 Test matches, while Rishabh surpassed him in only 43 games.
