Former England cricketer Ravi Bopara has been appointed as the head coach of Karachi Kings for Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 10.

Ravi Bopara takes over from the former West Indies cricketer Phil Simmons, who was the King’s head coach since December 2023.

The decision came after Phil Simmons’ contract was extended as Bangladesh’s head coach for the next two years, up until the end of the 2027 ODI World Cup.

The BCB offered him a longer contract after initially appointing him as interim coach until the conclusion of the 2025 Champions Trophy.

Ravi Bopara, who represented England in 38 T20Is, was the Karachi Kings’ assistant batting coach for the past three seasons.

The former all-rounder also played and captained the Karachi Kings in earlier editions of the PSL and was named Player of the Tournament in HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 1.

The Karachi Kings’ social media account posted an animated poster announcing his appointment as head coach.

Additionally, Muhammad Masroor was named the Assistant Coach and high-performance Coach of the Kings.

Karachi Kings’ owner, Salman Iqbal, stated: “We are delighted to welcome Ravi Bopara as our Head Coach for HBL PSL 10. His journey with Karachi Kings—from player and then as part of our coaching staff—reflects his deep commitment to the franchise.”

“We are confident that his leadership will bring fresh energy to the squad. Additionally, Muhammad Masroor’s promotion as High Performance Coach is a testament to his hard work and dedication over the years. Together, they form a strong coaching unit that will drive Karachi Kings toward success.”

The PSL 10 will begin from Friday, 11 April with defending champions Islamabad United taking on two times champions Lahore Qalandars at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
