Queen’s Baton Relay reaches Pakistan

KARACHI: The Queen’s Baton Relay that precedes the Commonwealth Games, arrived in Pakistan, here on Sunday.

On the arrival of Queen’s Baton, the president of Commonwealth Games Association of Pakistan, Syed Arif Hussain addressed the media. Hussain, while talking to the media announced the schedule of the relay’s tour in the country.

“Mazar-e-Quaid, Lyari, Sindh Madrasa-ul-Islam, and Karachi Grammar School will all host the Queen’s Baton Relay,” he said.

When asked about Pakistan’s participation in the event, Hussain stated that the national players are working hard in preparation for the Commonwealth Games.

“Preparations of the national players are underway. We will try to hold the National Games before the Commonwealth Games”, he said.

“Thirty of our players have lined up to compete in eight different sports,” he added.

He is also optimistic about the country’s qualification in hockey and women’s cricket.

The 22nd edition of Commonwealth Games will be commencing in Birmingham from 28th July, 2022 till 8th August.
