PSL 9 observes Golden Ribbon Day for childhood cancer awareness

KARACHI: As per the initiative of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) 9 will observe ‘Golden Ribbon Day’ on Tuesday for the childhood cancer awareness campaign.

As a result, the match between Quetta Gladiators and Multan Sultans scheduled on 12 March at the Pindi Cricket Stadium here will be marked by Golden Ribbon Day creating awareness regarding childhood cancer.

The teams will wear golden ribbons and golden caps while the commentators will also put on golden ribbons meanwhile messages regarding childhood cancer awareness will be displayed on the big screen and also announced during the commentary.

The PCB also invited four cancer patients on this occasion to attend the Gold Ribbon Day in Karachi and they were presented with signed shirts from both the teams.

Furthermore, the players of both Quetta Gladiators and Multan Sultans also interacted with the young cancer warriors and posed with them for pictures.

“Today we are celebrating Cancer’s youngest warriors and survivors by wearing golden ribbons,” wrote PSL on X, formerly Twitter.

“[Quetta Gladiators] and [Multan Sultans] players interacted with the little superstars,” the statement added.

 

Earlier this month, the ongoing PSL 9 observed the Pink Ribbon Day to for the breast cancer awareness campaign during the match between Peshawar Zalmi and Multan Sultans scheduled on 5 March at the Pindi Cricket Stadium, Rawalpindi.

As a result, the teams wore pink ribbons and caps alongside commentators and presenters.

Messages regarding breast cancer awareness were displayed on the big screen and also announced during the commentary while the stumps were also turned pink.

It is worth mentioning here that both Quetta Gladiators and Multan Sultans have booked their spots in the PSL 9 playoffs.

The teams, however, are eyeing for a top-two finish to make it to the Qualifier, the winner of which will earn a direct qualification to the final.
