PSL 9 observes Pink Ribbon Day for breast cancer awareness

RAWALPINDI: As per the initiative of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 9 will observe ‘Pink Ribbon Day’ on Tuesday for the breast cancer awareness campaign.

As a result, the match between Peshawar Zalmi and Multan Sultans scheduled on 5 March at the Pindi Cricket Stadium, Rawalpindi will be marked by the Pink Ribbon Day creating awareness regarding breast cancer.

The teams will wear pink ribbons and pink caps while the commentators will also put on pink ribbons meanwhile messages regarding breast cancer awareness will be displayed on the big screen and also announced during the commentary.

“In Pakistan, 1 in every 9 women may eventually develop Breast Cancer. We are partnering with [Pink Ribbon Pakistan] to increase public awareness of breast cancer. Today we go pink,” wrote PSL on Twitter.

 

On 12 March, Gold Ribbon Day will be observed to raise awareness regarding childhood cancer in the game between Quetta Gladiators and Multan Sultans at the National Bank Stadium, Karachi.

The venue will turn gold as players and commentators will don gold ribbons and caps.

The PCB has also invited four cancer patients on this occasion to attend the Gold Ribbon Day in Karachi and they will be presented with signed shirts from both the teams.

It is worth mentioning here that former champions Multan Sultans have booked their place in the PSL 9 playoffs with a victory over Karachi Kings on Sunday.

Mohammad Rizwan-led side are currently at the summit of the standings with 12 points in seven matches. Whereas, Babar Azam’s Peshawar Zalmi are fourth with seven points in as many matches.
