KARACHI: Islamabad United made history on Friday by achieving a commanding eight-wicket victory over Hyderabad Kingsmen in the 36th Pakistan Super League (PSL) 11 match at the National Bank Stadium.
United chased down a modest target of 81 runs, lost only two wickets in the process, with 80 balls to spare.
Debutant Mohsin Riaz led the successful chase with a rapid 42 off 18 balls, including six fours and two sixes.
Right-handed opener Sameer Minhas contributed with an unbeaten 27 off 20 balls. This win over Kingsmen is now the biggest in PSL history in terms of balls remaining, surpassing the previous record of 79 balls set by 2019 champions Quetta Gladiators against Multan Sultans last year.

Earlier, after being invited to bat first, the Kingsmen struggled against United’s fierce bowling attack and were bundled out for 80 runs in 15.5 overs.
Wicketkeeper-batter Usman Khan remained top-scorer with an unbeaten 25 off 35 balls, while Saim Ayub, Kusal Perera, and Asif Mehmood contributed 12 each, scoring double figures alongside him.
Notably, the 80 runs scored by Kingsmen is now the lowest PSL total ever at Karachi’s National Bank Stadium, and the overall fifth-lowest of the tournament’s history.
