PSL 10 set to introduce Player Tracking Technology

PSL 10 set to introduce Player Tracking Technology

LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Wednesday announced that Player Tracking Technology will be used for the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10.

The technology will keep a ball-by-ball record of various aspects of play.

“The players’ movements, including fielders’ coordinates, bowler run-ups, and batting stances on the field, will be tracked frame-by-frame on each delivery, the PCB said in a statement.

The spectators will be able to watch the data gathered from each ball on the screen during the PSL 10 matches.

The main features of the Player Tracking Technology include zone-based performance analysis for the fielders, scoring-zone integration for the batters, ball-catching analysis on caught dismissals, and a breakdown of field placements.

Following the announcement, PSL Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Salman Naseer emphasized the importance of technology in enhancing the fan experience, mentioning the league’s commitment to innovation.

“Our goal has always been to deliver world-class coverage. Player Tracking Technology is another step towards making the HBL PSL a benchmark for modern cricket broadcasting,” he concluded.

It’s worth noting that PSL 10 is set to commence on April 11, 2025. The opening match will see defending champions Islamabad United take on two-time winners Lahore Qalandars at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.

The tournament, featuring six teams and 34 matches, will run from April 11 to May 18. Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium is set to host 13 matches, including both Eliminators and the grand final.

The marquee event will also feature three double-headers, with two matches on weekends (Saturday) and one on a national holiday (Labour Day).

Karachi Kings, the winners of the league’s fifth edition, will begin their campaign on 12 April in their own backyard against runners-up of the last edition, Multan Sultans.

The first PSL 10 match in Multan will be played on 22 April between the Multan Sultans and Lahore Qalandars.
