PSL 10: Mohammad Nabi aims for “something special” in Karachi Kings return

Veteran Afghanistan all-rounder Mohammad Nabi has rejoined the Karachi Kings for the upcoming HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 10, expressing his excitement to be back with the franchise and his desire to deliver something special this season.

Nabi, who previously represented the Kings in the 2021 and 2022 editions, joined the squad yesterday after being picked in the supplementary category for PSL 10.

This marks his fourth PSL season overall, having debuted with Quetta Gladiators in the inaugural edition back in 2016.

“I’m really happy to be back with the Karachi Kings. I’ve always enjoyed my time here, and the environment has been great from day one. I played two seasons with this team, and I’m hopeful that I can perform well and help achieve something special this time around,” said Nabi after his first training session with the team.

Reflecting on his global T20 experience across leagues and teams, the Afghan all-rounder believes that adapting to different environments helps build chemistry quickly—especially with local players.

“When you’ve played in different leagues across the world, with different teams and players, it becomes easier to adjust,” he added.

“Yes, this is a new combination again, and it might take a day or two, but I’m confident we’ll click soon, especially with the young local talent around. There’s a lot of potential in this squad, and I’m excited to work with them.”

With a wealth of experience under his belt, Mohammad Nabi spoke highly of the team’s leadership and coaching setup, including captain David Warner, head coach Ravi Bopara, and bowling coach Shaun Tait.

“It’s a very positive environment here. The combination of senior guys like David, Ravi, Shaun, and myself is a great mix,” he stated.

“I’ve played alongside Ravi before, and now seeing him as a coach—it’s impressive how well he manages things. He understands both the game and the players. I’m confident this setup will work well for Karachi Kings.”

Nabi, who has scored 350 runs at a blistering strike rate of 142.85 and taken 10 wickets in his 22 PSL matches, is also looking forward to mentoring the younger players in the squad.

“There are a lot of young players in this team, and they’re working really hard. Today was my first training session with them, and I can already see their passion. I’ll be learning with them, and I’ll also be sharing my experience and advice wherever I can. We’ll grow together as a team.”

Karachi Kings are set to begin their PSL 10 campaign on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi against the Multan Sultans.
