Hasan Ali reveals key factor behind impressive PSL 10 performance

LAHORE: Hasan Ali, the leading wicket-taker in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10, discussed his exceptional performances in the tournament and highlighted the key factors that contributed to his success.

Hasan Ali is currently the leading wicket-taker in the PSL 10, taking 13 wickets in six matches. He recently surpassed former Pakistan pacer Wahab Riaz for most wickets in the tournament.

The 30-year-old broke Wahab Riaz’s record for the most wickets in the tournament during Karachi Kings’ match against Quetta Gladiators on 18 April at the National Bank Stadium Karachi.

The Gujranwala-born pacer achieved this milestone by dismissing Gladiators opener Hasan Nawaz, thanks to an outstanding catch from Khushdil Shah. Hasan Ali achieved the feat in his 84th innings, three innings fewer than Wahab Riaz.

While speaking to the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) digital platform, Hasan expressed satisfaction with his performance, revealing the key factor behind his stellar outings in the tournament.

“I’m satisfied with my performance as I’m leading the bowling charts after six games for Karachi Kings. It feels great when you take wickets for your team regularly,” said Hasan Ali.

“I haven’t made any major changes to my bowling. Instead, I’ve modified the basics of my bowling and worked on my fitness and diet, which has helped me a lot this season,” he added.

The fast bowler also reflected on his experience as a vice-captain, expressing that he enjoys the responsibility.

“I’m enjoying the responsibility of being the vice-captain of one of the biggest HBL PSL franchises. With such responsibilities, you do get a lot of confidence, which helps in your own performances as well,” he concluded.

Hasan Ali further emphasised Karachi Kings’ captain, David Warner, hailing him as a team player, highlighting his global experience.

“The best thing about Warner is that he is a team man and has vast experience of playing the game around the globe. He has served Australia for a long time, and the young players in our squad are learning a lot from him.”

“I would like to thank him for coming over to play in his maiden HBL PSL season, and well done to the league management and PCB for bringing him to Pakistan,” added Hasan.

Hasan Ali reflected on Karachi Kings’ last fixture against Quetta Gladiators in which they were edged out by a mere five runs.

“Cricket is a funny game, and the matches can turn around in one or two overs in the short format. Anyways, we are still in a good position on the table and in our remaining four matches, we’ll look to end up in the top two positions,” he said.

The right-arm pacer is looking forward to Karachi’s return match against arch-rivals Lahore.

“As players, we always want to play in front of bigger crowds, and we are looking forward to our 4 May fixture against Lahore Qalandars. I hope the crowds turn out in big numbers and we entertain them with our skills,” he concluded.
