KARACHI: Sui Northern Gas Pipe Line (SNGPL) all-rounder Mubasir Khan produced a hat-trick-laden five-wicket haul to demolish Khan Research Laboratories (KRL) in the second round of the President’s Cup here at the UBL Sports Complex.
Set a stiff 141-run target, KRL batting line faltered and were bowled out for 40 in 20.2 overs.
The chief architect of the collapse was Mubasir Khan, who paired up with Sajid Khan, resulting in a dramatic KRL collapse.
The openers Waqar Ahamed (14) and Shahzaib Khan (12) were the only batters to enter double figures.
Mubasir, who picked up his second List A five-fer, took a hat-trick in the 18th over of the match.
The off-spinner removed Shahzaib, Shayan Sheikh, and Sufyan Moqim in succession to reach the feat.
The 23-year-old recorded figures of 7-3-6-5. Sajid Khan remained the other vital contributor, picking up four wickets in his seven overs.
Earlier, after put into bat first, SNGPL were bundled out for only 140 in 34.1 overs.
Shan Masood contributed 47 off 54 balls, while no.9 Muhammad Irfan chipped in with a run-a-ball 32, hitting five fours.
KRL’s Saqib Khan continued his rich vein of bowling form and scalped four wickets.
Meanwhile, Oil and Gas Development Company (OGDCL), State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), and Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) also sealed victories in their respective matches.
WAPDA bagged a comfortable nine-wicket win over Ghani Glass at the Naya Nazimabad Ground, chasing the 194-run target in 35.2 overs.
Mohammad Akhlaq remained the top-scorer, scoring an unbeaten 102 off just 96 balls.
At the KCCA Stadium, SBP rode on opening batter Mohammad Faizan’s second List A century to overhaul the 258-run target set by Sahir Associates.
Faizan contributed a brisk 106 off 110 balls with the help of 13 fours and two sixes, while also sharing an 84-run opening stand with captain Imran Butt (40, 47b, 6x4s).
OGDCL also managed to beat Pakistan Television (PTV) by five wickets as they chased the 269-run target with 24 balls to spare at the Oval Academy Ground.
Rohail Nazir (81, 82b, 4x4s, 3x6s) and Imam-ul-Haq (63, 60b, 9x4s, 1×6) starred with the bat, hitting half-centuries in the chase, which helped their side cross the finishing line.
