LEIRIA: Porto won the Portuguese League Cup for the first time on Saturday after four previous final defeats with a 2-0 victory over Sporting Lisbon in Leiria.
Sergio Conceicao’s men took the lead in the 13th minute as Canada midfielder Stephen Eustaquio scored his seventh goal of an impressive season.
Sporting were reduced to 10 men with 18 minutes remaining when Paulinho was shown a second yellow card.
Porto secured the title in the 86th minute through Ivan Marcano’s header.
