‘People say Babar and I score less runs in power play’ Mohammad Rizwan

KARACHI: Pakistan Super League’s (PSL) franchise – Multan Sultan’s captain Mohammad Rizwan complained that people needlessly criticized him and Babar Azam for scoring fewer runs while talking to the media on Sunday ahead of the PSL 7.

In the presser, Rizwan said that he and Babar play according to the pitch condition but, needlessly get criticized for scoring runs slowly in the power plays.

“I (alongside Babar) try to play according to the pitch’s condition. People, on the other hand, do not grasp this and just claim that Babar and I score lesser runs in power-plays,” Rizwan remarked.

Rizwan while sharing his thoughts on his team’s preparation said that the team combination is good and will try to perform well.

“The combination of Multan Sultans is good, will try to play well,” he said.

“The players are excited, this year’s event is going to be a good one,” he added.

Rizwan also claimed that he focuses on his batting; stating there is no captaincy pressure.

The wicket-keeper batter also thanked Almighty Allah for being named as the ICC Men’s T20I Cricketer of the Year.

“I am so grateful that the ICC named me as the T20I player of the year. I am thankful to Allah (almighty) that the name of Pakistan came on the platform of ICC because of me,” he said.

He however said, whatever happened last year was exceptional but the 29-years-old now want to focus on his future goals.

“I am very happy about what happened last year, but now I have to move on and try to do well this year too,” he said.

“I will try my best to perform well in PSL this year,” he concluded.

It is worth mentioning here that Rizwan led Sultans won the previous edition of the PSL and will now lock horns against the 2020 champions – Karachi Kings in the PSL 7 opener on January 27 at National Stadium Karachi.
