The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has reportedly decided to remove Test head coach Sarfaraz Ahmed and bowling coach Umar Gul from their respective positions following the team’s poor showing in the ongoing Test series against England, sources revealed on Monday.
The decision comes after Pakistan suffered a heavy 194-run defeat in the second Test at Lord’s on Sunday, allowing England to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.
England had earlier secured an innings-and-103-run victory in the opening Test at Headingley, leaving Pakistan facing another series defeat in England.
According to sources, the PCB is now set to hand over the red-ball coaching responsibilities to white-ball head coach Mike Hesson, who is likely to serve as Pakistan’s head coach across both formats.

Ashley Nofke is also expected to take over as the national team’s bowling coach, sources added.
The PCB has reportedly taken the decision as part of a wider accountability drive following Pakistan’s underwhelming results and performances.
Sarfaraz Ahmed has overseen six Tests as Pakistan’s head coach so far, with the team winning only one and losing five.
Under his tenure, Pakistan suffered two defeats against Bangladesh, one against the West Indies and two against England.
