LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced that Match Officials’ Technology (MOT) will be used for the forthcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10.
The PSL 10 will begin from Friday, 11 April with defending champions Islamabad United taking on two times champions Lahore Qalandars at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
The six-team tournament will see 34 matches from 11 April to 18 May, with Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium set to host 13 matches, including two Eliminators and the final.
“While the league has previously embraced components of MOT, this edition marks a significant step forward—aligning HBL PSL with the highest global standards in officiating, transparency and viewer engagement,” the PCB said in a statement.
The statement further mentioned that every match of PSL 10 will feature a comprehensive, tech-backed officiating ecosystem.
“From auto no-ball detection and live umpire communication to DRS and innings timers, match logging and real-time multi-angle replays, every HBL PSL match of this edition will operate with a comprehensive tech-backed officiating ecosystem,” the board said.
“A dedicated Hawk-Eye technician will be stationed at every match to support umpires and streamline operations.”
The MOT will also allow fans to see DRS and innings timers on the big screen and broadcast graphics in real time.
For the first time in tournament history, the over-rate calculations will be made available ball-by-ball for the teams and fans.
In addition, match umpires will be equipped with handheld tablets for real-time logging of over-rate calculations and instant DRS triggers in the PSL 10.
Following the announcement, PSL Chief Executive Officer Salman Naseer expressed his thoughts on the innovation in the upcoming edition, emphasizing the improvement in the decision-making.
“HBL PSL has always seeks to introduce innovation in the league and after weeks of deliberation regarding which innovation to introduce, we can now proudly say that HBL PSL X matches will have full MOT integration,” he said.
“By introducing this, we will uphold fairness in every decision, providing greater clarity for officials, players and fans alike,” he remarked.
