PCB grants NOCs to Hasan Ali, Faheem Ashraf for county commitments

LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board has issued No Objection Certificates (NOCs) to four players, including Hasan Ali and Faheem Ashraf, to fulfil their county and T20 commitments in England.

The board confirmed that Hasan Ali, Mohammad Ali, Usman Tariq and Faheem Ashraf have been granted permission to participate in the upcoming English domestic season.

The Vitality Blast is scheduled to run from May 22 to July 18.

Mystery spinner Usman Tariq has signed with Warwickshire Bears for the T20 competition. Birmingham Bears will play their opening match against Gloucestershire on Friday, May 22.

Meanwhile, Faheem Ashraf and Hasan Ali will represent Yorkshire in the T20 Blast.

Faheem will also remain available for County Championship rounds seven and eight. The all-rounder joins Yorkshire as a replacement for Will Sutherland, who withdrew due to injury.

Meanwhile, Hasan will replace Afghanistan pacer Naveen-ul-Haq after the latter was ruled out with a stress fracture in his right shoulder.

Hasan’s previous county experience with Warwickshire played a major role in the signing. The experienced fast bowler enjoyed a successful spell in England between 2023 and 2025, claiming 44 wickets across three Vitality Blast campaigns at an impressive average of 14.93.

Hasan is expected to remain available for Yorkshire throughout the Blast group stage and is also set to feature in County Championship matches against Warwickshire and Leicestershire County Cricket Club.

Meanwhile, Mohammad Ali is set for his first stint in county cricket after signing a short-term contract with Nottinghamshire for the closing phase of the 2026 English domestic season.

He will remain available for selection over the final two months of the campaign, featuring in both the County Championship and the One Day Cup.

In another development, the PCB has extended the NOC of veteran pacer Mohammad Abbas for his county stint with Derbyshire County Cricket Club.

Abbas signed a two-year deal with Derbyshire in December 2025 as one of the county’s overseas players for the 2026 and 2027 seasons.

The right-arm seamer carries a strong reputation in English red-ball cricket, having previously represented Leicestershire, Hampshire and Nottinghamshire.

Abbas also played a key role in Nottinghamshire’s County Championship-winning campaign last summer, taking 32 first-class wickets in nine matches at an average of 21.46.
