PCB calls up 22 top white-ball players for training camp in Lahore

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has called up 22 white-ball performers, including senior stars Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shaheen Shah Afridi, for a crucial training camp in Lahore.

As per sources, the camp will run over three days, June 3, 4, and 5, with the selected players reporting in three separate groups.

The camp’s core agenda revolves around reviewing fitness levels, analysing recent performances, and briefing players on Pakistan’s white-ball roadmap under newly-appointed head coach Mike Hesson.

Senior players, including Babar, Rizwan, and Shaheen, are expected to be part of all three sessions, which will also feature standout performers from the recently concluded Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10.

The 50-year-old Hesson, who took charge of Pakistan’s white-ball setup recently, is set to engage directly with players during the camp to outline his vision and expectations going forward.

Players summoned for the camp include: Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Usman Khan, Saud Shakeel, Shahid Aziz, Abbas Afridi, Salman Mirza, Mir Hamza, Abdullah Shafique, Khawaja Nafay, Haider Ali, Ahmed Daniyal, Mehran Mumtaz, Khurram Shahzad, Maaz Sadaqat, Mohammad Nawaz, Aamir Jamal, Naseem Shah, Sufiyan Muqeem, Ali Raza, and Tayyab Tahir.

It’s worth noting that Pakistan recently ended a nearly three-year wait for a home T20I series win by clean-sweeping Bangladesh 3-0 to kick off Hesson’s tenure.

The green shirts now have a brief break before they potentially return to Bangladesh next month for another three-match T20I series.
