LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has called an emergency meeting of its Board of Governors (BoG) tonight at 8:00 PM following India’s forfeiture of the World Championship of Legends (WCL) semi-final.
PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi will preside over the high-level BOG meeting, which is expected to be held virtually with most members joining online.
The meeting will address several pressing matters, both stemming from the WCL fallout and regarding Pakistan’s broader international cricket commitments.
Topping the agenda is the review of India’s double forfeit against Pakistan, first during the group stage on July 20, and then in the semi-final of the Legends’ tournament in England.
Both instances saw India withdraw instead of facing their arch-rivals, reigniting the long-standing debate on politics interfering with international sports.
The Board is expected to conduct a detailed assessment of the situation and consider issuing a formal policy statement outlining Pakistan’s stance, especially with the ACC Asia Cup 2025 and ICC T20 World Cup 2026 on the horizon.
Also on the table will be a comprehensive briefing on recent international developments, including updates from the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the Asian Cricket Council (ACC).
The BoG will discuss key decisions from recent ICC meetings, particularly around hosting rights and the global cricket calendar, as well as deliberations from the ACC summit in the UAE regarding the future format of the Asia Cup.
It is worth mentioning that Pakistan Champions have now booked a place in the WCL 2025 final by default, after India once again pulled out of the semi-final clash.
They will now face the winner of the second semi-final between South Africa Champions and Australia Champions, scheduled for Thursday in Birmingham.
