PCB announces schedule of Pakistan-Sri Lanka women’s series

LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the schedule of the Pakistan-Sri Lanka women’s series, which will roll into action from May 24 at Southend Cricket Club in Karachi.

The green shirts will kick off their ICC Women’s Championship on June 1 by hosting Sri Lanka for the first time for an ODI series.

The three-match series will roll into action on June 1 and will conclude on June 4.

Sri Lanka women, however, will start their tour with a three-match T20I series, scheduled from May 24 to May 28.

For the historic series, the home side will undergo an 11-day training camp, which will be held at the Academy Oval ground adjacent to the National Stadium. The camp will feature 26 players.

It is pertinent to mention here that Pakistan women’s cricket team will be participating in the ICC Women’s Championship for the third time. The green shirts finished seventh ahead of Sri Lanka in the inaugural position. In the second event, however, Pakistan finished in fifth position ahead of New Zealand, West Indies, and Sri Lanka.

This will be Pakistan’s first international series since the Corona pandemic was contained, hence the regulated environment for these matches will be relaxed. Before the series, all players, referees, and sports personnel will be tested. Anyone who tests positive for Covid 19 will spend five days in isolation.

The T20Is and ODIs during Sri Lanka women’s visit to Karachi will begin at 1400 and 0930.
