PCB announces match officials for National Champions Cup

LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Friday announced the match officials for the National Champions Cup, set to be held in Multan from 11 to 19 August. 

According to the press release, former Test cricketers Ali Naqvi and Kamran Chaudhary will supervise the playing control teams throughout the tournament. Both umpires are also part of the International Cricket Council (ICC) Panel of Match Referees.

The umpires performing duties will be Asif Yaqoob, Faisal Khan Aafreedi, Nasir Hussain, and Rashid Riaz Waqar of the ICC International Panel of Umpires. They will perform duties alongside Abdul Moqeet, Syed Imtiaz Iqbal, Tariq Rasheed, and Zulfiqar Jan of the PCB National Elite Panel of Umpires.

“For the opening match on Tuesday, 11 August, Asif Yaqoob and Zulfiqar Jan will be on-field umpires, while Faisal Khan Aafreedi will perform duties as third umpire. Imtiaz Iqbal will be the fourth umpire on opening day of the tournament,” the statement read.

“In the all-important final, Ali Naqvi will lead the playing control team comprising of on-field umpires Asif Yaqoob and Rashid Riaz, third umpire Faisal Khan Aafreedi and fourth umpire Nasir Hussain,” it added.

For the unversed, the Champions Cup comprising four teams — Pakistan Greens, Pakistan Whites, Pakistan Blues, and Pakistan Gold— will kick off the 2026-27 Pakistan domestic season.

The seven-match tournament will be played on a single-league round-robin basis, with the top two teams advancing to the final. All seven fixtures are day-night, with the match expected to begin at 3 pm local time.
