PCB amends HBL PSL 7 playing conditions

LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to make modifications to the playing conditions of the forthcoming seventh edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

In a press release, shared on the official website of the PCB, the cricket board confirmed the playing conditions of the HBL PSL 2022, which will be played in Karachi and Lahore from 27 January to 27 February.

According to the playing conditions, a minimum of 13 COVID-19 negative players will be sufficient for a game at PSL 2022 to go ahead.

As per the newly modified conditions, if a team loses a player due to COVID-19, the team will then be eligible to pick any player from the reserved pool of players after seeking the approval of the Technical Committee.

The Board also confirmed that a team’s playing XI must comprise a minimum of seven and a maximum of eight players including one emerging player. However, if a team gets hit by the deadly virus to such an extent that it halts it to create a playing 11 in accordance with the relevant requirements, the requirements will stand waived to the necessary extent.

PCB also imposed a new restriction for the fielding side, which bounds the side to bowl the first 19 overs in the given time. If they failed to do so, the side will then be able to place one less fielder outside the 30-yard circle in the final over.

Furthermore, as per the PCB’s announced playing conditions, the TV umpires will be calling the no-balls in the league’s matches.

The PSL 7 will kick off on January 27 with the defending champions Multan Sultans taking on the 2020 champions Karachi Kings in the opener at National Stadium Karachi.
