Patterson goes hard at Hurricanes as Scorchers shine with fourth victory in BBL

HOBART: Perth Scorchers sealed a convincing victory against Hobart Hurricanes by 42 runs, thanks to their opener, Kurtis Patterson, who smashed 78 runs to help his team register a fourth win in Big Bash League (BBL).

The Scorchers restricted Hurricanes to 125/9 in 20 overs; chasing a mammoth 168. The side remained unbeaten with a convincing 42 runs victory.

Chasing 168, the Hurricanes batters struggled throughout the innings, and none of their batters could go big to assist the side to the victory. Nathan Ellis scored 20 off 15 balls; smashing two boundaries.

Will Parker, on the other hand, top-scored for his side; scoring 25 off 17 deliveries, and hitting one boundary and as many sixes.

For Scorchers, Andrew Tye starred, returning with a match-winning bowling figure of 3/19, Peter Hatzoglou and Ashton Agar, on the other hand, each took wickets. Whereas, Tymal Mills struck out a batter.

Batting first, the Scorchers, too, started off poorly; losing their first wicket for just one, as Josh Inglish departed after bagging a four-ball duck. Patterson, however, played a terrific inning and kept the scoreboard ticking single-handedly. The batter top-scored with 78 off 48 deliveries, laced with six boundaries and five sixes.

Agar, chipping in the end, with a quickfire 30 off 17 deliveries, assisted the side to post 167 in their allotted 20 overs.

For Hurricanes, Jordan Thompson claimed three wickets, while Tom Rogers took two wickets. Riley Meredith, on the other hand, bagged one wicket.

With this victory, the Scorchers consolidated their top position on the points table, while the Hurricanes remained at sixth.
