Beirut: Pakistan’s Haroon Khan has claimed a bronze medal at the 24th Asian Taekwondo Championship in Beirut, Lebanon.
Haroon Khan was seriously injured by a Tajik player in the quarterfinals. Haroon Khan wanted to play in the semi-finals despite being injured but doctors did not allow him to play.
President of Pakistan Taekwondo Federation Col (retd) Wasim Janjua announced a cash award of Rs 100,000 for Haroon Khan and Rs 25,000 for Hamza Saeed.
“With the fearlessness and bravery with which Haroon was playing, there was a strong hope that he would also qualify for the finaL,” Wasim said.
“The Tajik player deliberately injured him, which is against the sportsmen spirit,” he added.
“Reaching the medal table in the Asian event is a great achievement. He is the pride of Pakistan,” Wasim maintained.
