Pakistan cueist Haris Tahir will face reigning World Champion Kyren Wilson in the Qualifying Round of the Xi’an Grand Prix 2024.

According to the tournament itinerary, released by the World Snooker Tour (WST), the inaugural edition of the Xi’an Grand Prix 2024 will run from Qujiang E-sports Centre, Xi’an, China from August 19 to 25 August.

The second ranking event of the year, which follows the World Snooker Championship, will feature the likes of Ronnie O’Sullivan, Mark Selby, John Higgins, Luca Brecel and Judd Trump.

Meanwhile, Kyren Wilson, who won his first World Snooker Championship in May this year after a closely contested final against Zak Jones, will face Pakistan’s Haris Tahir in the first round of the Qualifiers on August 19.

The anticipated match will take place at the main arena and will commence at 7 PM, Pakistan Standard Time (PST).

Earlier this month, Haris Tahir qualified for the final stages of the British Open 2024.

Tahir faced Scotland’s Dean Young in the qualifying round and defeated him by the score of 4-3 after an intense and captivating snooker match.

In a thrilling snooker match, Tahir and Young battled it out in a series of closely contested frames. Tahir took the lead by winning the first frame with a score of 58-43, setting the stage for an intense showdown.

Young retaliated in the second frame, narrowly defeating Tahir with a score of 68-65. Undeterred, Tahir staged a comeback in the third frame, securing a convincing 78-31 win before continuing his impressive form to clinch the fourth frame with a score of 74-13.

However, the momentum shifted as the Scottish cueist fought back vigorously, displaying dominance in the fifth frame with a score of 73-48. He followed this up with a nail-biting victory in the sixth frame, edging out Tahir 69-62 in a closely fought contest.

In the final and decisive seventh frame, Haris Tahir secured his triumph with a score of 63-36. His overall performance throughout the match was commendable, and this last frame solidified his well-deserved victory in the qualifying round of the British Open.

Prior to that, Haris Tahir defeated Welsh snooker player Jamie Jones in the Wuhan Open with a score of 5-3.
