JAKARTA: Pakistan Hockey Team’s camp suffered a major blow as the forward Abu Bakar Mehmood has been ruled out of the ongoing Hockey Asia Cup after suffering an injury.
Abu Bakar, who was a part of the contingent in the side’s first two group matches against India and Indonesia, has suffered a knee injury which resulted in him ruling out of the tournament.
Following his unavailability for the upcoming matches, the team management of the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has asked the Technical Committee for a replacement.
It is pertinent to mention here that Pakistan will take on the reigning Asian champion Japan today. The Green Shirts thrashed Indonesia by 13-0 in their second match before holding on for a draw against the arch-rivals India in the opener.
