Lance Khan, one of the brightest young prospects in Pakistan’s growing baseball community, tragically passed away in Houston at the age of 21 due to a fatal car accident.
Khan had proudly represented Pakistan at the 2023 Lincoln Cup, emerging as a symbol of the sport’s potential in a cricket-dominated nation.
His loss comes as a huge blow not just to the Pakistan Baseball Federation, but to the sport’s entire ecosystem striving to make baseball a mainstream pursuit in the country.
Lance Khan was born and raised in the U.S.A. He began his baseball journey in Lamar Little League and later advanced to play college baseball at the University of St. Thomas (UST).
UST Baseball paid an emotional tribute on the social media platform X, writing:
“You will be with us forever, 4. Your infectious attitude and love for your teammates is something that can’t be taught. Your voice will echo in the dugout for eternity. We love you, Lance. Rest easy.”
Khan’s journey was characterised by resilience. He had recently triumphed over cancer and returned to the field with the same passion that defined his early years in the game.
President of the Pakistan Baseball Federation, Fakhar Shah, also mourned the loss of a player he once called the future of Pakistani baseball.
“He was one of the brightest talents we had. His international appearances brought new energy and optimism to the sport in Pakistan,” he said.
