Pakistan to host Blind T20 World Cup 2024

BANGALORE: World Blind Cricket Council (WBCC) on Friday awarded the hosting rights of the next T20 World Cup 2024 to Pakistan, Pakistan Blind Cricket Council (PBCC) confirmed.

According to the PBCC, the 24th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the WBCC took place on Friday. Due to the non-issuance of visas on political grounds, Syed Sultan Shah President of World Blind Cricket Ltd presided over the meeting through video link.

Following the 24th AGM, the WBCC decided to reward Pakistan with the hosting rights for the fourth Blind T20 World Cup, scheduled in December 2024.

The mega event will embark on November 18 and conclude with the final being held on December 3rd – International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

Furthermore, the WBCC unanimously passed a resolution to condemn India’s refusal of issuing visas to the Pakistan team to participate in the T20 World Cup 2022.

“World Blind Cricket Ltd unanimously has passed a Resolution to regret the Indian Govt insensitivity in refusing Pakistan Blind Cricket Team visas on Political Grounds, in the ongoing Blind Cricket T-20 World Cup,” said PBCC in a press release.

“WBC is of the view that Pakistan is currently Top ranked T-20 Blind Cricket Team and the Indian Government’s insensitivity has deprived Pakistan to exercise equal rights to take part and win this title,” the statement added.

Meanwhile, the elections of the Executive Committee of WBCC were also held during the AGM, which featured nine out of 10 full member countries.

Syed Sultan Shah, the President of PBCC had been elected unopposed as the President of WBCC for the term of the next two years, with his tenure due to end in 2024.
