Squash legend Jahangir Khan, hockey legend Samiullah Khan, and other sports icons from across Pakistan have extended their best wishes to the national men’s cricket team for the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2024.
The icons including the star javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem in an interview with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) have expressed their faith in the Green Shirts and encouraged the national team to bring the T20 World Cup trophy home.
Jahangir Khan urged the Pakistan cricket team to show fighting spirit throughout the tournament.
“The whole nation is supporting the team and wants the Pakistan team to win,” said the ten-time British Open champion.
“There’s always a winner and a loser but everyone would be satisfied if the team will at least lose while fighting for the win.
“This team consists of senior and junior players and if they move forward supporting each other, I am sure that this team will give excellent performance.”
The former hockey captain Islahuddin expressed his belief that Pakistan has a talented squad, which is capable of winning the tournament.

“Pakistan team have a lot of talent. Pakistan had already won the T20 World Cup once, the nation is expecting the team to win it for the second time,” he said.
Moreover, hockey legend Samiullah Khan gave valuable advice to the national cricket team for the mega-event.
“Our team is carrying the hopes of the nation. As a sportsman, I would advise them to give their best and plan for every match according to the opposition. I wish them the best of luck,” said the two-time hockey World Cup winner.
Meanwhile, Arshad Nadeem expressed optimism over the national team’s practice, extending wishes for their victory.
“The team have practised a lot and their hard work will definitely be paid off,” Nadeem said.
The Green Shirts will start their ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 campaign against the co-hosts United States of America (USA) on June 6 before taking on arch-rivals India in a blockbuster clash on June 9 at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York.
The 2009 champions will then take on Canada on June 11 before locking horns with Ireland in their last group-stage fixture on June 16.
