LAHORE: National cricket team will play more than half of its international matches on home soil in the next four years as Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) unveiled the men’s Future Tours Programme (FTP) for 2023-27 on Wednesday.
According to the PCB, Pakistan will host 10 out of 12 Test playing nations for the first time in more than two decades during the period, including two tri-nation series and two ICC events.
Overall, PCB has scheduled 130 international matches for the team during the period, out of which 66 will be played at home and 64 will be away matches, which includes 27 Tests (13 home and 14 away), 47 ODIs (26 home and 21 home) and 56 T20Is (27 home and 29 away).
Depending on where the team finishes in the ICC and ACC events between 2023 and 2027, as well as the tri-nation ODI series in 2025 and 2026, the number of matches may increase.
Meanwhile, all Test matches will count towards the ICC World Test Championships 2023-2025 and 2025-2027.
Pakistan will also host two 50-overs ICC tournaments, ACC Asia Cup 2023 and Champions Trophy scheduled in 2025.
For the first time since 2004–2005, the triangular ODI series has been added to Pakistan’s calendar. The Green Shirts will play a home tri-series with New Zealand and South Africa in February 2025 in the lead-up to ICC Champions Trophy. Meanwhile, England and Sri Lanka will come to the country for the tri-series in October/November of 2026.
PCB said that the FTP was prepared collectively by the ICC Member Boards while the board will continue to include more matches and series depending on the players’ availability and the window for international cricket in the calendar.
