Pakistan, India to lock horns in first-of-its-kind Tape Ball tournament

KARACHI: The first-of-its-kind six-team Tape Ball tournament, Super Fix Championship, will feature the Pakistan-India contest for the first time in history. The iconic Sharjah Cricket Stadium will host the matches on November 19 and 20.

According to the details, besides Pakistan and India, the tournament will also feature Sri Lanka, Oman, United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Saudi Arabia.

In a press conference here on Monday, the tournament’s chairman Naveed Ahmed said India and Pakistan will come face to face in a tape ball event for the first time.

“We are going to witness Pakistan vs India for the first time in a tape ball tournament,” the chairman said.

“For the first time in tape ball cricket history, Pakistan and India will lock horns,” said Naveed. “Apart from Pakistan and India, Sri Lanka, Oman, UAE, and Saudi Arabia will participate in a two-day event,” he added.

The tournament chief then went on to share that the championship offers handsome prize money for the winners and runners-up, while also keeping free entry for fans at the iconic Sharjah Stadium to attract maximum attendance in the stands.

“We have kept handsome prize money of AED20,000 for winners. Runners-up will receive AED10,000. Also, there are individual awards for the players in this event,” Naveed shared.

“There is no entry fee. Fans are welcome to join us at one of the biggest tape ball events,” said Naveed. “We have also reserved VIP boxes for cricket lovers and they will get a chance to sit and watch the match from there for free,” he added.

Daud Bhouch, tournament manager and renowned tape ball cricket pundit, revealed that the competition will feature the biggest tape ball cricket stars from Pakistan, India, and Sri Lanka.

“Superstar cricketer of Sri Lanka – Kumar, India’s Krishna and Bunty, Pakistan’s Taimur Mirza, Zaheer Kaliya, Fahad Mian Chunnu, and many other renowned cricketers will be seen in action,” he said.

“We will make sure to make this event successful and lay down a solid foundation for this cricket’s future,” he concluded.
