Pakistan beat PNG by nine wickets to finish group stage at top position

PORT OF SPAIN: Muhammad Shehzad bagged his maiden fifer to help Pakistan beat Papua New Guinea (PNG) in their last group match in the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup here on Saturday. 

Set to chase paltry 51 runs in 50 overs, Pakistan lost one wicket of opener Shehzad but managed to get to the target in 12 overs.

Abbas Ali scored 27 runs including three boundaries whereas Haseebullah Khan made 18 laced with two boundaries.

Earlier, Shehzad picked up five wickets for just seven runs in his 6.4 overs to help the Green Shirts bowl out PNG for 50 runs. Ahmed Khan bagged three wickets while Abbas Ali took one.

For PNG, only Christopher Kilapat was able to get into double figures. He scored 11 runs.

Remember, Pakistan had already qualified for the quarter-finals of the event.
