ANTIGUA: Pakistan have defeated Bangladesh by six wickets in the 5th Place Play-Off Semi-final of the ICC Under-19 World Cup, here on Monday.
Sett to chase a paltry 176, Pakistan sealed a comfortable victory by six wickets and 21 balls to spare, thanks to the wicket-keeper batter – Haseebullah Khan’s magnificent innings. He scored a brilliant 79 off 107 balls, laced with four boundaries and as many sixes, while the rest of the batters also chipped in with their valuable contribution.
For Bangladesh, Rakibul Hasan bagged two wickets, while Naimur Rohman made one scalp.
Batting first, Bangladesh’s batting line-up failed completely and could only manage to post 175 in the first innings. Ariful Islam scored a gritty century, while the rest of the batters departed after scoring cheaply. Islam scored 100 off 119 balls, including five boundaries and four sixes.
For Pakistan, Awais Ali and Mehran Mumtaz claimed three wickets each, Ahmed Khan and Zeeshan Zameer shared one wicket apiece.
