Pakistan always very successful during Ramadan: Mickey Arthur

Former Pakistan head coach Mickey Arthur reflected on his experience of working with the Green Shirts during Ramadan, claiming the team was always very successful during the holy month.

Arthur,  the head of cricket of Derbyshire County Cricket Club, served Pakistan as thier head coach between 2016 and 2019. Under his coaching, Pakistan won the Champions Trophy in 2017, that too during the month of Ramadan.

In a video shared by Derbyshire CCC, Arthur discussed his experience of coaching Pakistan during the month of fasting and lauded players’ unwavering commitment to their faith.

“I think the key was getting into another culture. I was blown away by the morals and values. The culture was just so pure, so good. Ramadan is a very, very important time in the Muslim faith.” he said

“Watching the players, because we played quality cricket during Ramadan, incidentally, we were always very successful.”

“We won the Champions trophy during Ramadan; we won a Test match at Lords during Ramadan. What stood out for me was the player’s commitment to their faith and Ramadan. It was very interesting to see, also very, very stimulating just watching how the players adapted to that; it was amazing.”

It may be noted here that Arthur’s return as Pakistan’s head coach is on the cards as the negotiations between Pakistan Cricket Board and Derbyshire’s head are currently in the final stages.
