Osmania Girls College wins Hockey Title in Sindh Colleges Games

KARACHI: H.I Osmania Degree Girls College won the title of Girls Hockey held in District Central in connection with the 4th Sindh Colleges Games; defeating North Nazimabad Block, M by one goal in the final, here on Wednesday.

The match between the two teams remained equal for 56 minutes. Until, Iqra Iqbal, the centre half of the government college, scored a stunning goal on captain Saima’s pass to give her team a one-goal lead which was maintained till the end of the match.

Apart from the Hockey title, Osmania College also won the Volleyball and Badminton titles; winning a total of three out of the eight competitions.

Olympian Islahuddin Siddiqui was also present in the closing ceremony after watching a thrilling final. Islahuddin, alongside Regional Director College Education Karachi, Prof. Hafiz Abdul Bari Indhar distributed the prizes among the top performers.

On this occasion, Islahudding praised the competitive final and claimed that the young players can go on to represent the country if they continue to play the same way.

“Today’s match was very good and exciting. If the players continue to play like that, I am sure that they will succeed in making a place in the national women’s hockey team,” he said.

Islahuddin also emphasized the importance of sports in the educational institutions said the ‘educational institutions are the nursery of sports’.
