DUBAI: Pakistan’s star all-rounder Nida Dar has been included in the ICC Women’s T20I team of the Year 2022, revealed by the International Cricket Council on Monday.
The ICC Team of the Year recognises 11 outstanding individuals who have impressed one and all – be it with the bat, the ball or their all-around exploits in a calendar year, said cricket’s governing body in a media release.
New Zealand’s Sophie Devine has been named captain of the side which also includes four Indian players, three Australians, two English and one each from Sri Lanka and Pakistan.
Veteran all-rounder Dar, who is also nominated for the ICC Women’s T20I Player of the Year award, produced some outstanding performances for Pakistan in last year’s Women’s Asia Cup. She scored 145 runs in six matches at the tournament, at a phenomenal average of 72.50, and also grabbed eight wickets at a meagre 14.87 runs a piece.
She played a crucial role in Pakistan Women’s team’s sensational win against arch-rivals India as she raised an unbeaten 56 and then returned excellent bowling figures of 2/23. Her brilliance with both bat and ball steered Pakistan to the semi-finals, where they eventually lost to Sri Lanka by just a run.
“With 15 wickets at an average of 18.33 and an economy rate of 5.50 in T20Is in 2022, Pakistan’s veteran off-spinner Nida Dar enjoyed one of the best bowling years in her career” read ICC’s media release.
