KARACHI: A security delegation of New Zealand Cricket (NZC) visited Karachi today to asses the arrangements for the team’s tour of Pakistan, scheduled in December this year.
According to the details, a four-member NZC delegation paid a visit to the National Stadium Karachi and received a security briefing from the law enforcement agencies. The delegation also reviewed the security arrangements on the team routes from Airport to the hotel and from the hotel to the stadium.
DIG Security and Emergency Division, Dr Maqsood Ahmed presented a detailed briefing to the delegation as they paid a visit to the Special Security Unit (SSU) Headquarters and reassured them of the foolproof security during the New Zealand men’s team tour.
He asserted that previously other international teams including the Australian team had also successfully toured the country.
The delegation expressed its satisfaction over the security arrangements and also hailed the professional capabilities of the law enforcement agencies.
New Zealand are set to tour the country between December 2022 and January 2023 for two Tests and three ODI before returning in April 2023 for five ODIs and as many T20Is.
It is pertinent to mention that New Zealand abruptly abandoned its tour last year in September just before the opening game citing a ‘security threat’.
