ISLAMABAD: The newly-appointed Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC) Minister Ehsan Ur Rehman Mazari gets his first briefing after taking the oath, and a cash reward policy for the athletes also came under discussion.
The press release, shared by the IPC ministry, unveiled that Ehsan ur Rehman got his first briefing by the secretary and the matter of awarding the athletes with a cash reward also came into the discussion.
According to the details, the Minister was informed that the cash award scheme for athletes is also being reviewed and modified. A database for athletes as well as features to help track their performance was also discussed.
Furthermore, Ehsan ur Rehman, who formerly served as the Special Assistant to the Chief Minister of Sindh on Youth and Sports, pledged to encourage sports in the country in an effort to project a softer image of the country.
“Sports and tourism are critical to promoting the country’s softer image, and we must use all resources at our disposal to improve the country’s soft image,” the IPC minister stated.
The federal minister was next briefed on the Pakistan Sports Board (PCB), which serves as the country’s centre for sporting activities, and was given a presentation on the PSB’s functions and budgets.
In addition, the Minister was presented to Director General PSB Colonel retired Asif Zaman, who was given an overview of the various initiatives.
It is pertinent to mention here that since the first briefing mostly focused on the operations of the ministry and PSB, the matter of the revival of departmental sports may too soon come under discussion.
