Nasir Jamshed issues apology for his mistakes after seven years

Former Pakistan opening batter Nasir Jamshed expressed regret over his role in the spot-fixing controversy in 2017 and issued an apology for his mistake.

Jamshed is currently serving a 10-year cricket ban, slapped by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) in 2018 for his involvement in the spot-fixing in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) as well as the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) in 2017.

He later pleaded guilty to his role in the spot-fixing conspiracy in February 2020 and was subsequently sentenced to 17 months in jail in the UK.

However, he recently took to his official X (formerly Twitter) account to apologize for his wrongdoings.

The left-handed cricketer shared a video of himself bowling to his daughter and expressed regret over his tarnished career.

“I won’t forgive myself for what I did with my career,” Jamshed posted. “I am truly sorry, but I will try to pass my talent on to my daughter and give her the best chance.”

Nasir Jamshed represented Pakistan in two Test matches, 48 ODIs, and 18 T20Is, since his debut in 2008 against Zimbabwe, scoring a total of 1832 runs across formats.

He played a crucial role in Pakistan’s 2-1 victory during their last bilateral series against India in 2013.

Jamshed emerged as the leading run-scorer in the three-match ODI series, amassing an impressive 241 runs, including two centuries.
